At 8:25 am vessel Zhao Yaung Feng carrying 75 thousand tones of anthracite docked at the port. It’s planned that the coal will be unloaded in 2-3 days, after which it will be distributed to Prydnistrovska and Kryvorizhska thermal power stations.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine earlier stated that Ukraine will be independent from hard coal by 2019.

In 2016 routes that used to transport coal from occupied Donbas territory were blocked. The government claimed that those deliveries had no alternative, and deemed partial electricity shutdowns would be necessary starting March. In the meantime Ukraine discussed coal delivery from the US, and planned to renew deliveries from South Africa.
