“We defined seven main participants of these offenses, took them to the district police stations… In particular, an individual, who attacked the journalist of one of the TV channels was defined and questioned,” Knyazev said.
“The decision to detain one of the participants of these events was made and agreed with the city prosecutor under the article of Ukraine’s Criminal Code. Police seized his gun. The investigation is underway,” he added.
According to the National Police, the court will decide on the restrictive measure concerning this individual. At the same time, the National Police Head did not specify which organization the detainee represents. He just noted that it was about a Ukrainian.
Reportedly, activists of Ukraine's far-right political forces tried to attack the building of Prosecutor General's Office in Kyiv. The disorder was caused by the decision of the Ukrainian authority to extradite Timur Tumgoev, the Ingush national and the Russian citizen.
On September 12, it became known that Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine extradited Timgoev to Russia, as the Russian federal security service requested. Explaining the decision, the Ukrainian side said that Timgoev is wanted by the Russian Federation as the ISIS militant; he allegedly served with the Islamic State fighters in Syria.
Tumgoev twice asked for the refugee status in Ukraine, but the request was turned down - in both cases.
