Ilya is 16 years old and he is 11th grader. The boy said he had started creating this system a few months ago. An electronic arm can be installed on a mine clearance robot equipped with video cameras. The camera image is transmitted to the screen, which is installed in a safe place, for example, in the dugout. The mine clearance specialist is positioned in front of this screen wearing a special glove and he can remotely neutralize a mine or other explosive device since the mechanical fingers of the robot repeat the movements of the person’s hand in the glove.
“I made an electronic hand on a 3D printer. I will improve it so that the hand can perform operations that require high precision. Both military and civilians can use it. For example, you can send a robot equipped with my electronic hand instead of a person to conditions of chemical contamination. My passion for technical creativity began from parents’ birthday present, an educational kit with electronic circuits. It inspired me so much that I started learning programming languages and technical creativity. I have quite a number of developments already,” Ilya said.
The boy participated in the Techno Ukraine 2020 competition, where winners were determined in each of seven categories. Ilya’s project is called “Creating an ArduinoUno-Based Guided Hand Model.” He took third place in the competition.
