The Security Service of Ukraine has begun the check of the actions of the "Dniproazot" officials that led to the creation of the liquid chlorine deficit, the main reagent for the continued provision of the drinking water for the population as the press service of the SBU reported on Facebook.
It is noted that it created the prerequisites for the disruption of the functioning of the objects life-support of the population and a threat to the people's health.
"Since June 15, 2018, the administration of the "Dniproazot" stopped the producing and shipment of the liquid chlorine to the water-supply enterprises of Ukraine in violation of the commitments and without the preliminary agreement and it makes impossible the decontamination of the drinking water and create the occurrence of the mass poisoning and spread of the epidemics," the message said.
At the same time, the Security Service checks the reasonableness of the increase of the reagent price in the way from the producer to the final consumer.
On the results of the check, the SBU prosecutors will make a decision on the qualification of the actions of the "Dniproazot" workers "involved in the artificial creation of the prerequisites for the occurrence of the emergency", according to the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
As it was reported earlier, the stocks of the liquid chlorine in Kyiv are running extremely low; the lack of the substance used for cleansing of the water may result in the situation where the residents may be left without supplies of drinking water.
Previously, Ukrainian water companies faced a tough situation with the disinfection of water supplies, since Dniproazot company, the manufacturer of liquid chlorine announced that it would stop production of the substance and, thus, stop the supplies. Due to the fact, some water pipeline companies have enough chlorine for up to no more than 20 days.
In spite of the fact that the government already reached the agreement with Dniproazot, the production still has not been restored so far.
