The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has announced the suspicion of a “hired killer” who was recruited by the FSB of the Russian Federation to eliminate a Ukrainian special services agent, the press service of the SBU reports.
It is established that the malefactor was a member of the so-called “fighting deuce”, which committed the murder of a Ukrainian special services agent in the Rivne region in 2016. The suspect secretly smuggled weapons from Russia to commit the crime.
Another member of the group was detained in November 2016, while trying to cross the state border of Ukraine. The court found him guilty of a criminal offense and sentenced him to 12 years in prison.
According to the investigation, two Ukrainian citizens were recruited by the FSB to carry out reconnaissance and sabotage missions to the detriment of Ukraine's state security.
It is established that in April 2016, they arrived from the Russian Federation to the territory of our country to collect information about servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and employees of domestic defense enterprises.
The agents passed the information to their curators.
Subsequently, the members of the group were given a task and killed a Ukrainian officer of a special military unit.
A pre-trial investigation is underway, as part of the criminal proceedings initiated by SBU investigators.

The police found out that the citizen of Ukraine served in the ranks of the so-called "People's Militia of the People's Republic of Luhansk"; he was recruited by the FSB to carry out reconnaissance and sabotage activities in Ukraine.
