The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) did not use the force during the yesterday's detention of Oleksandr Shepelev, the former MP as Olena Gitlyanska, the spokeswoman of the SBU reported on Facebook.
'The SBU acts only within the acting legislation; particularly it did not use the force during the detention of Mr. Oleksandr Shepelev. We emphasize that the criminal proceeding is opened by Military Prosecutor's Office due to the statement of Shepelev. The prosecutor determined the competence in this criminal proceeding by the investigators of the SBU', she wrote.
According to the statement of Shepelev, the forensic medical examination will be appointed that will determine the time limitation of the infliction of bodily injury and their severity.
As we reported earlier, former MP Shepelev was detained on Feb. 8. Back in 2012, he was accused of embezzling funds of Rodovid Bank in the sum of over $8 million, as well as participating in the embezzlement of $11,6 million allocated for re-financing the National Bank in March-May 2009. Moreover, he is suspected of an attempted murder of former shareholder of Rodovid Bank Serhiy Didchenko.
