The Security Service of Ukraine (the SBU) denies all the allegations of Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs concerning the prevention of the RF Consulate-General representatives meeting Viktor Ageev, as the SBU press service informs.
“The RF AF serviceman V. Ageev was detained together with other members of subversive group of so-called “LNR” on June 24, 2017 in the ATO area. This fact was headlined in Mass Media, but the RF Consulate-General in Kharkiv addressed a letter with request for permission for diplomatic institution representatives to meet with Ageev only in two weeks after his detention – on July 6, 2017,” the message says.
It goes on to emphasize that on July 13, 2017, the Ukrainian side responded that the officials of the RF Consulate-General in Kharkiv will be able to meet Ageev after urgent investigative (search) actions on him are finished, about which the Russian officials will be notified in due time.
The SBU also notes that Russia itself stood in the way of Ukraine’s consular officers to meet Ukrainian citizen Oleh Sentsov, who was groundlessly detained by Russian security service in May 2014.
“In spite of numerous notes and requests of Ukrainian side to the RF, such meeting took place only in 1,5 year after his imprisonment – in December 2015,” they added.
As it was reported earlier, detained in Donbas Russian soldier Viktor Ageev confirmed that he is the military of the Russian Armed Forces. At the moment is detained at the Starobelsk detention center. His mother came to Ukraine and was allowed a meeting with her son. Russia urged Kyiv to let the Russian consul visit the detained.
