Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko welcomes the decision of The Saudi Agricultural & Livestock Investment Co (Salic, Saudi Arabia) to purchase “Mriya” agricultural holding, as the Head of the State wrote on Twitter.
“Salic’s decision to purchase “Mriya” agricultural holding is, in fact, a very significant event, which demonstrates the readiness of the foreign investors to invest money in Ukraine, crucial changes in the investment climate and in investor’s attitude to our state,” Poroshenko wrote.
He added that this contract in the major one in the agricultural sector over the period of Ukraine’s independence.
The President specified that the agreement does not provide for the purchase of the Ukrainian land, it is about the purchase of the assets, which, as he thinks, will facilitate the increase of the investment level of the agricultural complex and technologies level, which will increase yields, export and will create new working places.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that The Saudi Agricultural & Livestock Investment Co might purchase “Mriya” agricultural holding.
According to the news agency, Salic works 45 thousand hectares in Ukraine which are adjacent to “Mriya” land. The acquisition will make it more than 200 thousand hectares.
“Mriya” growers wheat, corn, sunflower, barley, colza, buckwheat, potato, soybeans and other croppers, its enterprises work lands in Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Lviv and Chernivtsi regions.
