Sanctions against Russian companies took force in Ukraine

VKontakte, Yandex, other in total 468 legal entities, as well as over a thousand individuals are on the new sanction list

The government newspaper Uryadovy Courier published a presidential decree, which enacts the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on economic and other sanctions.

The document takes effect today.  

In total 468 legal entities, as well as 1228 individuals are on the new sanction list. This year, for the first time, Ukraine imposed sanctions on Russian Internet and media companies, such as Mail.ru Group, Yandex, VKontakte and Odnoklassniki. Also, a number of Russian media agencies got under restrictive measures: media holding RBC, Zvezda, TNT, Moscow Media, Russia Today (RIA News), Nashe Radio, NTV-Plus, NTV, First Channel, Russia 24, RTR-Planet, as well as producers of anti-virus software Kaspersky Lab, Doctor Web and suppliers of popular ERP-systems LLC "1C" and some others.

Earlier it was reported that NATO believes that blocking Russian web portals in Ukraine is matter of security. Ukraine’s got its own ‘system of checks and balances’, the Alliance says.
