The chairman of the Executive Committee on Reforms of Ukraine's National Reform Council Mikheil Saakashvili believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin can land troops in southern Ukraine or capture the Ukrainian Snake Island and deploy missiles there. He expressed this opinion on Ukraine 24 TV channel, while commenting on possible scenarios of the Kremlin's aggression.
“What is happening around Ukraine now reminds me very much of what happened in 2008 [in Georgia]. There are a lot of analogies.
Firstly, military build-up. For several months there was an upbuilding of forces around us. Now there is the same scenario around Ukraine.
All the landing groups that are in Russia, except for the Far Eastern ones, have now been transferred to the occupied Crimea.
It cannot be just a military maneuver, because there are great forces, capabilities and means," he said.
According to Saakashvili, "nobody throws away big money for nothing."
"Secondly, an ideological preparation is underway. Putin is testing the West's reaction to his statements and actions," said the head of the executive committee.
As it was reported earlier, president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky assigned Georgian ex-president to the post of Head of Executive Committee of Reforms.
