Mikheil Saakashvili, former Governor of Odesa region and ex-President of Georgia, was detained by the task force of the Border Guard Service "Watch", as a source in the Interior Ministry told 112.ua. They didn't specify why the politician was detained.
In the meantime, the supporters of Saakashvili said he had been kidnapped, according to his Facebook page.
“Just now near the office of the ‘Movement of New Forces’ in the Muzeinyi Ln, unknown masked individuals grabbed Mikhail Saakashvili and drove him in an unknown direction. The kidnappers drove a white mini-bus,” the message says.
Saakashvili’s ally David Sakvarelidze noted that the politician was in restaurant Suluguni when the incident occurred.
A few days ago, on Feb. 9, Mikheil Saakashvili claimed that law enforcement was trying to kidnap him. He said he was surrounded by the officers in the Fairmont Grand Hotel Kyiv and it was Poroshenko “trying to get rid of him”. The law enforcement refuted this information.
