Former Head of Odesa Oblast Mikheil Saakashvili claimed that the signature on the copy of the document for him obtaining Ukrainian citizenship, that was published earlier, isn’t his, as he wrote on Facebook.
“I’m in shock! I’ve just looked at the copy of the document, published at the request of the Presidential Administration by one of the fraction’s leaders. The president revoked my citizenship based on that document. With full responsibility I claim that it’s not my signature, and I didn’t write that document,” Saakashvili wrote.
As it was reported earlier, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the decree stripping Saakasvhili off the Ukrainian citizenship. Anton Herashchenko, the Counselor to Interior Minister of Ukraine said that the government learned certain previously unknown facts from Georgia’s Prosecutor General’s Office; as of the time when Saakashvili was granted Ukrainian citizenship, Ukrainian authorities were unaware of that information.
