Russia’s FSB detains Ukrainian citizen in Crimea

The FSB of Russia states it detained a citizen of Ukraine who tried to enter annexed Crimea bypassing established checkpoint as Kryminform reported.

“A citizen of Ukraine is detained by the employees of the border unit of the FSB of Russia in the Republic of Crimea during the attempt of the illegal crossing of the state border bypassing established checkpoint towards the Russian Federation,” the message said.

The FSB also reported that a woman did not have documents that prove her identity. A woman ron in 1966 was detained by the Russian law enforcers few hundred meters from the checkpoint in Armyansk.

The criminal case is opened due to the crossing of the state border of the Russian Federation without valid documents for entrance to the Russian Federation. The woman faces the restriction of liberty up to two years.

The FSB does not specify the name and surname of the detainee and she did not comment on the situation.

On December 4, the Russian FSB reported that the shooting took place at the border with Ukraine. According to the FSB, three unknown with weapons tried to break into Russia from the Ukrainian territory.

The FSB stated that two persons fled to the territory of Ukraine, while one person was shot.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine after the meeting with the representative of the border guard unit of the FSB reported that the Russian side did not provide evidence of the violation of its border by the Ukrainian side.
