Russian Security Service exposes illegal arms transfer channel from Ukraine and Lithuania

Russia reported on the elimination of the channel of illegal arms transfer from Ukraine and Lithuania. The suspects were detained in Novy Urengoy (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug), as the press office of Russian Security Service reported.

Russian law enforcer stated that they detained 11 people suspected of arms smuggling from Ukraine and Lithuania and modification of civilian weapons into military weapons.

“As a result of tracking activities and investigative actions in the places of their residence and employment 33 firearms of domestic and foreign production was seized: 7 machine guns, 11 rifles, carbines and shotguns, 14 guns and revolvers, submachine guns, 3 handheld fragmentation grenades, around 9,000 bullets of various calibers, and 575 main parts and components to weapons,” the message reads.

Besides, Russian FSB informed that the activity of four clandestine sweatshops on modification of weapons was prevented.
