Russian Federation failed to become peaceful country in 25 years; it resorts to military aggression like before. This was announced by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko during the opening of photo exhibition "Fourth Generation" in the National Museum of the History of Ukraine, broadcast by 112 Ukraine TV channel.
"Unfortunately, there is war in Europe again. Modern Russia could not and did not manage to become peace-loving in 25 years. We can recall Moldovan Transnistria, Georgian Abkhazia, Ossetia, Ukrainian Crimea and Donbas, Syria. Imagine, all this happened during the existence of Russian Federation over 25 years! Before that there was Afghanistan in 1979, Czechoslovakia and Prague in 1968, Budapest and Hungary in 1956. And today, Russian military with removed shoulder marks and painted out tail numbers of tanks and APCs are secretly crossing Ukrainian border to burn and cover Ukrainian land with blood without names, documents or uniform," he noted.
Poroshenko stressed that it is honorable to be Ukrainian military officer today, while being Russian soldier means "carrying out orders of the state which does not appreciate the lives of its fighters, denies its killed and wounded servicemen without any remorse".
As it is known, Ukraine honours the memory of the Second World War victims, along with nations of Europe and the United States on May 8. In May 2014, Ukraine recognized the internationally approved symbol of remembrance and reconciliation in the WWII – the poppy seed flowers. Since May 2015, the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation in WWII is marked in Ukraine annually.
