Russia may exploit the situation with missile firing while Europe is distracted by elections. This was announced on "112 Ukraine" TV channel by Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (2006-2010).

"Putin chooses a situation that would be more suitable for the implementation of his new pressure, a new step in Ukraine, that is, when the United States, Germany, France are occupied with the race (related to the elections - Ed.), when candidates came in Moldova, Bulgaria. When France held primaries, Putin's male and female friends came there... This is a time when Ukraine is face to face with the actual aggressor and therefore he wants to test the situation, and there is only one method, way of force,” he said.

In addition, in the commentary to "Vesti" Romanenko said that Russia needs a land corridor to Crimea, and now a military group is established at Mariupol direction.

"Of course, they need a land corridor to Crimea, as the social situation is aggravated there. They can use the prevailing aggravation to put the matter into direct conflict. Judging by the number of troops in Mariupol direction, the conflict can be tactical. Although the spark can ignite the flame,” he said.

Earlier media reported citing sources that Russia threatened missile strike in case of Ukrainian military exercises near Crimea. It has been reported that the warning about this is contained in a letter to the Russian Ministry of Defense, addressed to the military attache at the Ukrainian Embassy in the Russian Federation.
