Volodymyr Yelchenko, the Permanent Representative of Ukraine in the UN noted the necessity to bring the guilty of the crimes during the armed conflicts to the responsibility, including the Russian authorities that started aggression against Ukraine. He claimed this during the debates at UN Security Council as Ukrinform reported.
'The legal prosecution of the persons that take responsibility for the serious violation of the international humanitarian law is the clear signal for all guilty in the conflicts as they will be brought to the responsibility sooner or later', Yelchenko claimed.
Also, he commented the words of the Russian delegation that Donbas Conflict is the inner conflict of Ukraine. Yelchenko noted that 'Russia hopes to avoid the prisoner's dock in the Hague. But the Russian crimes in Ukraine do not have the limitations period'.
According to the Ukrainian diplomat, the inevitability of the punishment of the representatives of the authority of Russia gives hope to all citizens of Ukraine that 'the military crimes against the humanity and other violations of the human right committed during the armed aggression of Russia against Ukraine will be punished and the justice will be served.
As it was reported earlier, more than 1,5 million of internally displaced people are still struggling in Ukraine, as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) informs.
Many of the displaced people can’t find employment and adequate accommodation, and the conflict has been going on for four years, the message notes.
The UNCHR is concerned over the civilians' freedom of movement, particularly while crossing the conflict line. Just in a month, over 1 million of people crossed the dividing line in Eastern Ukraine.
