Novomoskovsky court in Dnipro Oblast sentenced detained Russian citizen Vasiliy Kusakin, who thought with the militants in DNR, for eight years of imprisonment, as the court sentence says.

The investigation established that in June 2015 the Russian citizen told one of the DNR militants through Odnoklasniki social network that he wanted to serve as a mercenary.

The unidentified DNR militant paid for his trip to occupied Donbas, where the 9th mechanized regiment of so-called DNR Armed Forces was stationed.

After that Kusakin moved to a sub-department of military intelligence Taifun, where he participated in capturing Ukrainian soldiers in Kominternovo. Subsequently he fought against the Ukrainian army in Shyrokyne.

According to the witness statement, who communicated with the accused on Odnoklaskniki, the militant received a monthly pay of 20,00 RUB (roughly $340).

In court the accused pleaded guilty at once. He said he understood they were fighting the Ukrainian army. He was sentenced for 8 years of imprisonment.
