The officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained the agent of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Russia in Cherkasy region as the press service of the SBU reported at Facebook.

'The officers of the SBU determined that the citizen of Samara, Russia that lived in Cherkasy region for a long time and got the Ukrainian citizenship was recruited in 1996 by the Foreign Intelligence Service of Russia', the message said.

It was established that the agent had to become a member of the social and political patriotic structures. He held the subversive activity in Kyiv and Cherkasy region and submitted the received information to the Russian special services.

The agent was detained during the special operation.

'The law enforcers found the mobile telephones with the contacts of the tutors, computers with the evidence of the transfer of the information to the Russian special services during the searches. The detained is served with the charge papers on the state treason', the SBU added.
