Russia is trying to discredit Ukraine with the attempts to transport smuggled cigarettes in large amounts to Serbia through our country. Petro Tsyhykal, the Head of the Border Guard Service, said it in the interview “The State Border Guard Service has a military component and we continue its development” for 112.ua.

“If we talk about the cigarettes, last detentions show that Russia is trying to transport cigarettes in large amounts to Serbia. It is another attempt to discredit our Service so that we let the smugglers go to Europe. The Europeans do not see from where and how these cigarettes appear in our country. We have a very good criminal analysis system – more than 15 years. Now we are teaching the experts from the National Police in our academy,” he said.

Tsyhykal also said that the officers of the Service seized cigarettes worth $20 million in 2017.
