Security Service od Ukraine together with the Prosecutor’s Office blocked the channel of deliveries of substandard components for prosthetics to our country. In particular, those prosthetics were for Ukrainian soldiers participating in Donbas conflict operations. This was reported by the SBU press service.
“Law enforcers have established that the private organization purchases knee joints, knots and modules for prosthetics since 2014 from the Russian supplier. The check initiated by the Security Council of Ukraine established that the products imported from Russia do not meet the requirements of state quality standards,” the message says.
Employees of the special services documented that the businessmen sold parts to several state structures specializing in the manufacture of prostheses.
"According to experts, the use of substandard components could pose a threat to the health of patients, most of whom are participants in the antiterrorist operation in Donbas," the department stressed.
SBU officers have also seized documents that prove the deliberate purchase and sale by the dealers of inappropriate products for prosthetics. A criminal case was opened and the sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to six years. At the moment, the investigation continues.
As it was reported earlier three Ukrainian soldiers were injured during the past 24 hours in Donbas. Avdiivka industrial zone remains the epicenter of the conflict.
