Russia sends 82nd 'humanitarian convoy' to Donbas

Russia has sent so-called the 82nd 'humanitarian convoy' to Donbas, the press office of tRussia's Emergencies Ministry reported. 

‘The 82nd humanitarian convoy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia has completed its mission. The humanitarian aid was delivered to the residents of Donetsk and Luhansk regions,’ reads the message.

The Russian Ministry claims that vehicles delivered more than 700 tons of the 'humanitarian aid' to the residents of Donbas, and the convoy seemed to have successfully passed the necessary 'customs procedures' on the Russian-Ukrainian border.  

For its part, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has sent to the Russian MFA a note of protest demanding that Russia put an end to the commitment of illegal actions against the sovereignty of Ukraine and abide the international law, the Ukrainian legislation and its international obligations.

‘On October 25, 2018, the Russian side carried out the illegal transfer of two convoys of so-called 'humanitarian aid' for the residents of the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions through the border checkpoints Izvaryne and Uspenka,’ reads the message.

It is reported that the 'humanitarian convoy' was transferred with the violations of the norms and the principles of the international law, the existing bilateral agreements, the Ukrainian legislation, and the previously agreed modalities for the delivery of humanitarian goods, including the need for them to be accompanied by representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross and mandatory registration by representatives of border and customs authorities of Ukraine.

Earlier the convoys of trucks entering and leaving Ukraine were spotted in the same area. 

On October 12, the OSCE SMM recorded a convoy of trucks that drove along the road in an uncontrolled area of Donetsk region; there were no border checkpoints there.

As we also reported, Russia deployed S-400 air defense systems in the occupied Crimea on the territory of Yevpatoria, designed for the elimination of the aircraft of strategic aviation. 

According to the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation claimed that S-400 'Triumph' is designed for elimination of strategic bombers, ballistic and cruise missiles, and can be used against ground objects as well.
