Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova named the exact number of the detained Ukrainian servicemen – 24, as the Russian Interfax cites the Ombudsman.

“Three sailors are in the first Kerch hospital, the doctors do not diagnose the serious condition, but, of course, injuries are injuries and it is very important that they receive qualified help; and they do,” she said.

“Three people, who sustained injuries as a result of this provocation, - this certainly causes worry and condolences to the relatives,” she thinks.

Moskalkova added that “procedural actions connected with the establishment of the facts of the events. If a military vessel enters the waters, certainly, this is a violation of the borders, this is a socially dangerous act, which demands a special qualification and procedure,” Moskalkova noted.

In his turn, the Chairman of the Committee of the Federative Council on Defence and Security Viktor Bondarev stated that the Ukrainian crews detained near Kerch Strait would be brought to justice.

“The ships (of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, - ed.) are delivered to Kerch. The crews are arrested and will be passed to the court, the captain and crew will be punished,” Bondarev said.

Ukrainian General Staff informed there were 23 servicemen on the board of the detained Ukrainian vessels.

Earlier the coast guard ships of the Russian Navy acted aggressively against the ships of the Ukrainian Navy, which have been carrying out a scheduled transition from Odesa port to Mariupol port in the Sea of Azov. 

‘Today, November 25, the ships of the Ukrainian Navy with two armored gunboats and a sea mule tugboat have been carrying out a scheduled transition from Odesa port to Mariupol port in the Sea of Azov. The intention to make the transition was informed in advance in accordance with international standards in order to ensure the safety of navigation. However, contrary to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and the Treaty between Ukraine and the Russian Federation on cooperation in the use of the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait, the Russian coast guard ships - Sobol class patrol boat, Don border guard cruiser, Mangust class patrol boat and Suzdalets anti-submarine warfare ship performed blatantly aggressive acts against the ships of the Ukrainian Navy,’ reads the message.

Russian authorities said that three Ukrainian warships in the Sea of Azov illegally entered the territorial waters of the Russian Federation and headed to the Kerch Strait. This is particularly stated in the message of the Federal Security Service border guards in Crimea, as reported by TASS.

The boats of the Russian Border Guard Service opened fire on the ship group of the Ukrainian Navy, which was moving towards the exit from the Kerch Strait.

'After the exit from the 12-mile area, gunboats of the Border Guard of Russian Federal Security Service fired on the naval group of the Ukrainian Navy of Ukraine's Armed Forces. Berdyansk, the small armored gunboat, took damage. The boat ceased to move, a man was wounded' the message says.
