Russia may send Ukrainian imprisoned sailors back to Ukraine until the end of August. They were detained on November 2018, as Kommersant reports, referring to the media close to the negotiations.

According to the daily newspaper, the sailors who were detained by Russian militaries would definitely come back to Ukraine after the last year incident in the Kerch Strait. The exchange will be held until the end of August.

The information that the exchanging process has started is confirmed by the Ukrainian diplomats on the condition of anonymity.

The conversationalist refused to answer the question on who would be released by Ukraine in exchange for the sailors with the aim “not to harm”. According to Kommersant, former senior editor of RIA News-Ukraine Kyrylo Vyshynsky, arrested in May 2018 and accused in high treason may be among people for exchange. 

As we reported earlier, on November 25, 2018, Russian border guards seized the Ukrainian Yana Kapu raid tug and small armored artillery boats Berdyansk and Nikopol of the Naval Forces of Ukraine in the Kerch Strait area, using weapons. As a result of the incident, 24 Ukrainian sailors were detained and arrested.
