Russia partially compensates pollution of Ukraine's Druzhba oil pipeline

Druzhba oil pipeline

Ukrtransnafta received a part of compensation (2,3 million EUR) from Russian Transneft for oil with a high content of organochlorine compounds which got into Ukraine’s part of Druzhba oil pipeline, as the press office of the company reported on Facebook.

The representatives of the company noted that this sum allowed covering the income which was not received due to temporary suspicion of transit in April.

Ukrtransnafta explained that the amount o the compensation is being defined within the additional agreement of the current transit deal. It depends on the period Transneft reserves the capacities of Ukraine’s oil transportation system.

Recently, Belarus suspended transit of Russian oil to Ukraine due to the absence of reservoirs of “dirty” oil on the territory of the country, as the press office of Belneftekhim concern reported.

On April 25, the company was forced to suspend the transit of oil through the Mozyr-Brody pipeline in connection with information about the flow of low-quality oil from Russia.
Four people were detained in Russia over the case of pollution of oil in Druzhba pipeline.
