The reduction of presence of the ATO issue in the information space can be a Russian strategy to divert world’s attention from the subject of armed conflict in Ukraine. This was announced by the Defence Minister of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak in an interview for "Interfax-Ukraine".

"I think this is one of the strategies of the Russian Federation to ensure that the international community has forgotten about this conflict, that is to say a distraction from the topic," Poltorak said.

Also, the Defence Minister claimed about constant provocations from militants to make Ukraine violate Minsk agreements.

"The shelling stopped in two areas only, those are Petrovsky and Zolote, which are forces and equipment disengagement sites. I will also remind that the main principle of conduct of hybrid war is a provocation,” Defence Minister said.

Poltorak thinks that the conflict will be resolved peacefully through negotiations.

"But in order to negotiate peacefully, we must have a strong army. Only then we will be heard,” Poltorak said.

Also, the Defence Minister emphasized that the defence budget for 2017 is not quite enough for reforming the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
