Russia did not respond to Ukraine’s proposal in the Trilateral Contact Group to exchange 23 convicted Russians for its political prisoners, as Iryna Herashchenko, First Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, the President's Humanitarian Envoy at the Minsk peace talks, wrote on Facebook.
“And again, I stress the readiness of the Ukrainian side to hand over 23 Russians convicted for the crimes against territorial integrity in exchange for Ukrainians kept in Russia as soon as possible. We have not received the response to this offer. At the same time, the representative of the ORDLO (separated districts of Donbas and Luhansk regions, - ed.) continue including these Russians in the lists as “militiamen” – the residents of “young republics”,” she wrote.
As Herashchenko believes, Russia does not express interest towards its citizens kept in Ukrainians prisons.
As it was reported earlier, at the Trilateral Contact Group session Ukraine stated about its readiness to exchange 23 Russians for its political prisoners kept in Russia. 73 Ukrainian hostages came back home. 233 persons were transferred to the occupied territory.
