Ruined dormitory take down continues in Chernihiv

Two possible reasons of this accident: gas explosion and emergency state of the building

The works continue on taking down the rubble of the ruined dormitory building in Chernihiv.  There are no people left under the rubble, according to rescuers.

 This was announced by the speaker of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Chernihiv region Oleksandr Ilchenko, reports live 112 Ukraine TV channel.

So far seven people were injured, he noted. One rescued person is a child born in 1999. And one woman of 1991 year of birth died.

According to preliminary data, there are two possible reasons - gas explosion and emergency state of the building. The committee meeting of the Emergency Service will take place today where the residents of the house will also be present and the reason of the accident will ultimately be confirmed, Ilchenko said.

240 cubic meters of separate elements of building structures were removed from the place of the accident as of 7 am, reports the Emergency Service’s press center on Facebook page.

68 people and 27 vehicles are involved in rescue operations. The Interior Ministry, the Ministry of Infrastructure and municipal services of the city take part in works.

Earlier it was reported that protesters broke windows of Sberbank building in the center of Kyiv. The incident occurred in a bank, formerly known as Sberbank of Russia on Lev Tolstoy square.
