In Zhytomyr region, on September 15, police investigators announced the suspicion of misappropriation of budget funds by the director of a contractor repairing roads in several villages. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Law enforcement officers established that in 2018, grading and repairs of street roads were carried out in the villages of Kharytonivka, Mamryna, Rudnya and Smolivka. Their results were formalized by relevant acts and certificates. However, the construction and technical examinations appointed by the investigators and conducted by the experts showed a significant overestimation of the volume of work actually performed and the cost of them.
In total, in eight cases it is a matter of entering knowingly false information into official documents, which led to unjustified payments to the accounts of the contractor.
Therefore, the illegal actions of the head of the enterprise led to unjustified payments of budget funds to the company's accounts in the total amount of approximately $36 thousand.
“Currently, investigators have informed a 62-year-old man that he is reasonably suspected of seizing someone else's property by abusing his official position on a particularly large scale, i.e., committing a criminal offense under Part 5 of Article 191 (“Appropriation, misappropriation or seizure of property by abuse of office”) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the message reads.
The investigation is ongoing. The sanction of the article provides for liability in the form of imprisonment for a term of 7 to 12 years.
As it was reported earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine exposed the scheme of purchasing low-quality spare parts for Ukrzaliznytsia, which were sold under the guise of innovative products at inflated prices and produced in the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk region.
