The revolt has occurred at prison in Kropyvnytsky on December 16. Former head of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine Serhiy Starenky reported this on his Facebook page.

“One of the prisoners attacked a woman psychologist and beat her or even more (it is suspected). After that, he started to ask other prisoners to support him. They went out of the cells and rioted. They did not calm down for a long time,” he noted.

According to Starenky, the riot continues.

“The prisoners today control two corps. They have taken the keys from the prison staff. The administration does not control the situation,” he added.

Later in the video address, Starenky said that the pretext was the attempt to take from the prison his “underbosses”. Such a decision was allegedly made by the head of Kirovohrad regional state administration upon agreement with law enforcers without notifying the head of the prison.

Starenky added that as for today morning, the situation in prison did not change and the security was not tightened.

Earlier, it was reported about the revolt in Kropyvnytsky colony but the leadership of the Penitentiary Service denied it.
