The results of so-called elections on the uncontrolled territories of Ukraine are null and void, they will not create any legal consequences and, therefore, won’t be recognized by Ukraine and by the civilized world. Reads the claim of the Ukranian part of the Trilateral Contact Group published on the Facebook page of Ukraine’s Representative in the Trilateral Contact Group Iryna Gerashchenko.
“Having ignored the consolidated position of the international community and international organizations regarding the illegitimate nature of these pseudo-elections and nonrecognition of their results, the Kremlin willfully exacerbates the situation in Donbas. Pseudo-election is a provocation aimed at disrupting the fragile peace process in the Donbas,’ reads the message.
The Ukrainian part of the Trilateral Contact Group has also stressed that all organizations involved in the “elections" must be held responsible and has also reminded that Russia with its actions violates the fundamental norms and principles of international law and Ukraine's legislation.
‘We demand the immediate holding of an extraordinary convocation of the Trilateral Contact Group and we appeal to the member countries of the Normandy format with a request to hold special consultations with a demand to the Russian Federation to abandon the destructive scenarios of destabilization of the situation in Donbas.
Today, November 11, so-called voting for “heads of the republics” and “the people’s deputies” is taking place in “Luhansk/Donetsk People's Republics.”
Ukrainian MFA stressed that the results of the elections in the occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions won’t be recognized either by Ukraine or by the international community.
