Representatives of Crimean Tatars demand introduction of permanent Monitoring Mission in Crimea

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with the representatives of the Crimean Tatar people and discussed the situation in annexed Crimea, as the press office of the President reported.

Zelensky noted that he scheduled a meeting to get to know the Crimean Tatar people and its representatives. It should be noted that President’s Representative to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Anton Korynevych, leader of Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev, representative of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov and member of Mejlis Rustem Umerov were present at the meeting.

“The meeting was scheduled to get to know each other better, to get through all the principled issues concerning Crimea, protection of Crimean Tatar. Which steps we should take together, what has been implemented from your side,” Zelensky said.

During the meeting, Mustafa Dzhemilev noted that the occupants were trying to pressure the Crimean Tatars. At the same time, the representative of Mejlis asked to raise the issue on creation of monitoring mission on the annexed peninsula at the international stage.

“It (Monitoring Mission, - ed.) has mandate in all Ukraine, but it is not allowed to enter Crimea. We have to insist everywhere, on the all platforms where we can that OSCE Special Monitoring Mission has a right to arrive in Crimea,” Chubarov said.
