The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reacted to the demand of the Ambassador of Israel to Ukraine Joel Lyon to cancel the decision to give the Ternopil stadium the name of Roman Shukhevych. Speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oleg Nikolenko commented on this demand on his Twitter.

"Preserving the national memory of the Ukrainian people remains one of the priorities of Ukraine's state policy. Discussions in this area should be held at the level of historians. Diplomats should work to strengthen relations of friendship and mutual respect between peoples, and not vice versa," Nikolenko wrote.

On March 6, Ternopil City Council at the session decided to rename the central stadium in honor of the commander-in-chief of Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) Roman Shukhevych.

On March 9, the Israeli Embassy in Ukraine condemned the renaming of the stadium in Ternopil and demanded the immediate cancellation of the decision.
