Releasing prisoners of war is the main topic of the work of the humanitarian subgroup during their meeting in Minsk in the framework of the Trilateral Contact group, as Darka Olifer, press secretary of Ukraine’s representative in the TCG, wrote on Facebook.

“Releasing those who are detained is the main topic of the work of the humanitarian subgroup. The release of Ukrainian serviceman Roman Savkov was favourable for the process. We are hoping, the release of Ukrainian prisoners will continue,” she wrote.

As we reported earlier, the exchange of prisoners took place in Donbas on Dec. 27. 73 Ukrainians were released in exchange for 233 militants. 

Roman Savkov, a  soldier of the 92nd brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was released from the captivity of the pro-Russian militants on Jan. 26. Roman Savkov was exchanged for a woman sentenced in Ukraine for the treason and pardoned by the president of Ukraine. She was transferred to the territory uncontrolled by Kyiv on January 21.
