The initiative on the holding of the referendum in Donbas is not groundless but it does not suggest the "Crimean scenario' as Russian informed source reported to Interfax.

"The offer to hold the referendum on the autonomy of Donbas as a part of Ukraine is warranted. Such mechanisms are discussed at the level of an idea in order to possibly implement them in the future with the assistance of all members of the Minsk process. These mechanisms are legal and do not include the violations of the international law," the source acknowledged with the situation said.

He noted that "the issue is about that the Donbas citizens will be able to speak out in the legal framework in a legal way toward the provision of the autonomy within Ukraine to some regions and provision of the proper political rights to a region by Kyiv".

The terrorist "Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics" do not know about this initiative and claim about the commitment to the Minsk Agreements.

"The referendum issue was not discussed yet and was not put on the agenda at any meeting," the source from the Council of Ministers of Luhansk People's Republics said.
