Red Cross plans humanitarian projects in Donetsk region’s Bakhmut hospital, checkpoint

Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Ukraine, in particular the chairman of the ICRC delegation in Ukraine, Alan Eshliman, presented their two humanitarian projects concerning the Bakhmut hospital and the checkpoint. This was reported by the press service of the Donetsk Regional State Administration.

"The first project is aimed at establishing an emergency medical department with mutual funding from the ICRC to support the creating of a reanimation and rehabilitation structure in emergencies at Bahmut hospital, adhering to the principles set out in the World Health Organization emergency manual," the report said.

Projects on hospital are scheduled to be implemented until 2020; 2 million Swiss francs are allocated for these purposes.

The implementation of the project concerning the checkpoint provides for the creation of favorable conditions for citizens crossing the checkpoints, namely the building the heating and cooling point module, bio toilets, toilets and bus stops.

As it was reported earlier, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmyla Denysova has appealed to the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) with a request to check the respect for the rights of Ukrainian political prisoners Oleh Sentsov and Oleksandr Kolchenko.
