The number of confirmed deaths caused by the war was 12,800–13,000 as of the end of 2018. By mid-May 2019, the UN confirmed 3,331 civilians had been killed in the conflict. Ukrainian government forces have lost a confirmed total of 4,290 killed servicemen by early August 2019, including 206 foreign-born Ukrainian citizens and 13 foreigners.
