A rally in support of Oleg Sentsov, a Ukrainian movie director, who was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment in Russia, is to be held at NSC Olimpiyskiy in Kyiv on July 2 at 21:00 Kyiv time.

The organizers of the rally reported this on Facebook.

“Come to support Sentsov – light a huge sign “OLEG, UKRAINE IS WITH YOU!” at the Olimpiyskiy stadium field. Invite your friends. The more of us there are, the more strength it will give to Oleg Sentsov in a fatal confrontation with the Kremlin mordor,” the message says.

As it was reported earlier, Ukrainian movie director Oleg Sentsov and Crimean activist Oleksandr Kolchenko were detained by the Russian FSB in the annexed Crimea. Both were taken to Russia. Sentsov was charged with preparing a terrorist act in Crimea and sentenced to 20 years in the high-security penal colony. Kolchenko was sentenced to ten-years-long imprisonment.

Oleg Sentsov has announced a hunger strike on May 14. This way, he demands that all Ukrainians detained in Russia and annexed Crimea be released. Sentsov said he was ready to die if the requirements were not fulfilled.

The ECHR addressed the Russian government to provide expanded information on the health condition of Oleg Sentsov and recommended him to stop the hunger strike. Sentsov has started the strike calling to release all Ukrainian political prisoners in the Russian Federation.

Lyudmyla Denisova, the Ukranian ombudsman assumes that he is being force-fed, because of the absence of accurate information on Sentsov's condition.

She claimed that Sentsov is experiencing problems with heart and kidney on June 21. According to her, he has had a crisis on the 26th day of the strike. He ended up in the hospital outside the colony and he was force-fed.

On June 26, Tatyana Moskalkova, the Russian ombudsman claimed that Sentsov refused to see doctors chosen by his attorney and relatives.

Denisova has come to the colony where the Ukrainian is kept yesterday on June 28. Although, she wasn’t allowed to see him. Only in the evening, they accepted her application for the meeting with the political prisoner.

Moskalkova visited Sentsov on that day and claimed he is in a satisfactory condition, but there are still concerns.
