Pyrotechnists cleared all 39 settlements near Ichnia district, Chernihiv region on October 16, as the press office of Ukraine’s State Emergency Service reported.
“Pyrotechnic units continue clearing the territory. On October 16, they have checked and cleared all 39 settlements, located near the warehouse, from ammunition. 25 out of 80 demining sites are cleared, a 16-kilometer contamination zone is reduced to 10-kilometers. 2,289 explosive devices were seized (254 over a day), 260 messages about ammunition finding from the population have been processed (eight per day),” the message says.
As at 7:30 am, on October 17, the aviation of State Emergency Service is in a state of readiness, eight fireguard-combat units are on duty to fight the fire promptly.
Earlier, the indictments on five cases on explosions on ammo depot were not served due to the need to conduct long expert reports, as Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said.
Reportedly, on October 9, a fire occurred on ammo depot in Ichnia, Chernihiv region. 12,000 residents of the settlements nearby were evacuated then.
