Russia’s President Vladimir Putin stated he felt “cautious optimism” relating to the contact with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky. Putin said that during the joint press conference with President of France Emmanuel Macron, as TASS informs.
“I will inform Mr. President (of France – ed.) about my last contacts with the newly elected president of Ukraine. There are some things which may be discussed and which inspire some cautious optimism,” Putin said.
He expressed confidence that “there are no alternatives to Normandy format for the Donbas conflict settlement, the Russian Federation will be supporting it.”
As we reported earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had asked heads of the Normandy Four member countries to meet as soon as possible after the recent news about Ukraine's combat casualties in Donbas.
President of France Emmanuel Macron agreed with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky on the necessity of the Normandy Format meeting and promised he would push the issue related to death of four Marines.
