President of Russia Vladimir Putin intends to issue passports of the Russian Federation under the simplified procedure to all the citizens of Ukraine. Vladimir Putin stated this at the press service on the results of his visit to the People's Republic of China, as TASS reported.
“In general, we are thinking of giving our citizenship (Russian citizenship) in a simplified procedure to the citizens of Ukraine", Putin pointed out.
Earlier ,we reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree which facilitates the procedure of obtaining the Russian citizenship for the residents of the occupied regions of Donetsk and Luhansk (ORDLO). According to the document, the application for Russia’s citizenship which ORDLO residents file should be considered within three months.
As it was reported, Russia wanted to facilitate the process of obtaining Russian citizenship for the residents of the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics after presidential elections in Ukraine. Putin’s decree was required for that.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Temporarily Occupied Territories and IDPs reported that people who get Russian passports will lose their Ukrainian citizenship.
