A public activist was abducted and killed in Kyiv. The press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office reported this.
The suspects were detained.
"Under the procedural guidance of the Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office in the city of Kyiv, three persons involved in the abduction and murder of a public activist and volunteer were detained and serve with charges (paragraph 12, part 2 of Article 115, part 3 of Article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the statement said.
It is reported that, on the evening of March 24, the attackers were confining a 37-year-old victim against his will for about an hour and kicking in different parts of his body in his apartment in Pechersk district of Kyiv. After that, the half-conscious man was forcibly put in a car and taken away in an unknown direction.
Investigators also found that the man had previously had a conflict with unknown individuals.
"It became clear during the investigation that the perpetrators killed the abducted man and hid his body in an abandoned ditch in Kyiv region," the Prosecutor's Office added.
The body of the deceased with multiple injuries, including stab wounds, was found on Sunday, March 28. Experts are establishing the cause of death and the mechanism of injury infliction.
Investigative activities are ongoing. The motive for the crime and possible accomplices are being established.
The issue of choosing suspects of non-alternative preventive measures of detention is also being resolved.
Also, the ex-MP Ihor Mosiychuk noted on the page on Facebook that it referred to the activist and the anti-terrorist operation veteran Oleksandr Mandych.
"A few days ago, unknown people abducted Oleksandr Mandych with call sign - “Tashkent”, and today he was found slaughtered in the woods, " Mosiychuk said.
As it was reported, on July 31, 2018, the activist from Kherson Kateryna Handziuk was doused with sulfuric acid, she died in three months from the received burns. The court later sentenced five people involved in the murder of the activist: Mykyta Hrabchuk, Volodymyr Vasyanovych, Vyacheslav Vyshnevsky, Serhiy Torbin, and Viktor Horbunov.
