According to preliminary information, the cause of the ps 752 plane crash in Iran was technical malfunction; the theory with the terror attack is ruled out, according to the message of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
"On 01/08/2020 approximately at 6:00 Tehran time (around 4:30 Kyiv time) after take-off from the Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport, Boeing-737 of the Ukraine International Airlines en route to Kyiv crashed. According to preliminary information, the plane crashed as a result of an engine accident due to technical reasons. Currently, the theory of the terrorist act is ruled out," reads the statement.
It is also reported that according to Ukraine International Airlines, 168 people bought the tickets for the flight.
“Information on the passengers present on board and the presence of Ukrainian citizens among the is to be confirmed. Also there were 9 crew members aboard a plane, all of them were citizens of Ukraine. Unfortunately, there are no survivors among passengers and the crew,” the embassy reports.
"The embassy is actively engaged in clarifying the circumstances of the disaster and the formalities. Serhiy Burdylyak, Ukraine's Ambassador to Iran, is present at the scene of the accident," the statement says.
As we reported, Boeing 737 of Ukraine's International Airlines, flight PS752 with 180 passengers aboard crashed in Tehran, not far from Imam Khomeini airport. Iranian Tasnim News Agency reported that, pointing out that the reason of the crash was a "technical malfunction". As of 7 a.m. January 8, the fate of passengers remained unknown. Local authorities feared that no one survived, because the plane was visibly on fire as it was falling, CGTN reported.
