Entry to Novi Sanzhary of Poltava region, where Ukrainian evacuees will be delivered, was blocked from all the sides. There are now about a hundred protesters who are against the hospitalization of people in Novi Sanzhary. In addition, the National Guard, Security Service of Ukraine, representatives of the State Emergency Service and many health workers are now in town, as 112 Ukraine correspondent reports from the site.
"Over 100 people are here now. Police, National Guard, SBU, State Emergency Service, and many health workers are on site. People are outraged that local authorities have not informed that Ukrainians will be evacuated from China and stay the next 15 days in their medical facility, they are scared for their health. The situation is calm now. There are no wounded or arrested now,” the message reads.
Kolo.news agency reports that it is impossible now to get to Novi Sanzhary.
“Law enforcers do not comment but note that they are guarding the order against any provocations,” the agency writes.
Interior Minister of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, who also arrived in Novi Sanzhary, urged people to keep calm and not to panic.
“I am calling on people to stay calm, do not panic or have hysterics, do not believe unnecessary rumors. We did everything to protect our citizens from potential threats. The chances and probability of some consequences are very low. That is why there is no need to panic or resist law enforcers,” Avakov said.
At the same time, he added that those who would resist the police would be detained.
Earlier, on February 20 the plane with Ukrainians evacuated from Wuhan landed in Kharkiv. It was noted that everyone on board was healthy and had no symptoms of a suspected coronavirus. The Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that the Ukrainians would be placed in the National Guard Medical Center in the Poltava region. The protesters are against the hospitalization of Ukrainians from Wuhan in this facility.
