Protest against extension of law on Donbas status takes place in Kyiv’s downtown

The new protest takes place in the downtown of Kyiv. The protesters stand against the extension of the law on the special status of Donbas as Vechirniy Kyiv reported.

It is noted that people have started to gather near the theatre named after Ivan Franko. A few hundred people moved along Olhinska Street to the building of the Verkhovna Rada. There they will stand against the extension of the law on the special status of Donbas.

On December 8, the partakers of the protest Varta (Guard) at Bankova Street dispersed. Thus, they showed they are satisfied with the results of the Normandy Format Summit. There is no one near the President’s Office.

The protesters demanded not to surrender the national interests and not to make concessions with Russia during the Normandy Format meeting in Paris. They also stand against the further disengagement of forces in Donbas. The stage was installed near the office.

Earlier presidential assistant Andriy Yermak stated that in case of the successful holding of the Normandy Four summit, Volodymyr Zelensky plans to submit the bill on the extension of the special status of the local self-government in uncontrolled part of Donbas.
