Prosecutor’s Office reports suspicion against detainee in Voronenkov’s murder

Law enforcement officers suspect the person, who was detained in Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, of involvement in the murder of Denis Voronenkov, the former member of the State Duma. This was reported at the website of Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office.

"The investigators of Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office in cooperation with Security Service of Ukraine carried out a number of investigation activities on June 15 in Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, in terms of investigation of murder of Denis Voronenkov. One person is currently detained, he is suspected of involvement in the commission of the crime," the message reads.

Investigative actions with the suspect are currently underway.

As it was reported earlier, law enforcers in Pavlohrad city of Dnipro region conduct investigation, arrests in the criminal case on murder of the ex-deputy of Russia’s State Duma Denis Voronenkov.

Ex-State Duma MP Voronenkov was shot in Kyiv downtown. 

It also became known that Voronenkov's killer is citizen of Ukraine. The killer died in the hospital in Kyiv. He got two wounds in the chest and one shot in the head.

Denis Voronenkov and llya Ponomarev, former MPs of the Russian State Duma, are the witnesses in treason case against fugitive Victor Yanukovych. According to the Prosecutor General Office, the law allows to add Voronenkov’s testimony on written record on the stage of the court investigation.
