Prosecutor’s office loses appeal on deprivation of Odesa's Mayor

The Appeal Court of Kyiv refused to suspend Hennady Trukhanov, the Mayor of Odesa, suspected in the embezzlement of $7 million from the city’s budget as Hromadske reported.

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office lost the appeal on the deprivation of Odesa's Mayor.

Earlier the Solomensky District Court of Kyiv did not satisfy the appeal of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) on the suspension of Hennady Trukhanov.

As we reported Hennady Trukhanov, the Mayor of Odesa and Pavlo Vugelman, the Deputy of Mayor were detained at Boryspil Airport on February 14.

The NABU detectives under the guidance of the prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office served charges on Trukhanov due to the suspect of the embezzlement through the malpractice. Moreover, three people were detained on the same criminal proceeding.

The court released Trukhanov on the parole of Dmytro Golubov, the MP of Ukraine. Before this, the clashes near the court took place,38 people were detained. 

On February 26, the Court of Appeal of Kyiv has left without changes the preventive measure against Mayor of Odesa. This way, MP Dmytro Golubov stands bail for him.
