Prosecutor's Office investigates detention of Ukrainian fishing boat by Russia

The fishing boat was detained allegedly for illegal plaice fishing

Crimean Prosecutor’s Office will investigate the detention of a Ukrainian fishing ship by Russia on the Black Sea, as Crimea’s Prosecutor’s Office reported.

“The Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea is conducting a procedural control over the criminal proceedings on illegal imprisonment of the crew of a fishing boat with prior conspiracy of a group of people, with the use of weapons, the threats of violent use and seizure of a vessel by the representatives of illegally created bodies on the temporarily occupied territory of Crimean peninsula,” the message says.

The Investigation Department of National Police Central Office is conducting the pre-trial investigation in Crimea and Sevastopol.

As it was reported earlier, a Ukrainian fishing boat registered in Ochakiv was detained allegedly for illegal plaice fishing. Five people in total were detained and taken to Crimea.
