The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine finished the pre-trial investigation in the shooting case during the Revolution of Dignity in early 2014. The Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko reported this.
“We finished the pre-trial trial investigation in the shoouing case in the Maidan. We have all the evidence against the offenders for the court, in particular the independent scientific assessments regarding Yanukovych, ex-head of Security Service of Ukraine Yakymenko, ex-minister of Internal Affairs Zakharchenko and their subordinates who ordered the shooting of peaceful citizens in Maidan”, - Lutsenko said.
The Prosecutor General pointed out that the culprits can get the life imprisonment.
“In addition to those 150 members of the security forces, who are now in the dock for the Maidan case, a dozen others will be added to them soon, headed by Yanukovych and the leaders of the security forces, who are considered guilty of giving criminal orders”,- according to Lutsenko.
Earlier, on January 24, Obolon district court of Kyiv sentenced Yanukovych to 13 years behind the bars (in absentia) - for the state treason and aiding Russia in waging the aggressive war against Ukraine. Another charge, the one with the attempt on the territorial integrity of Ukraine, was taken off him.
