The Prosecutor General's Office calls former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych for the questioning on October 17 as the website of the Prosecutor General's Office reported.
‘Yanukovych Viktor Fedorovych of the 1950 year of birth, you should come to the room 307 of the Prosecutor General's Office department on investigation of the crimes committed by the criminal entity to take part in the holding of the investigation and proceedings of the criminal proceeding, particularly for the questioning as the suspect at 11:30 on October 17, 2017, according to the demands of the articles 133,135 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine’, the document said.
At the moment the Obolon District Court of Kyiv considers the case of the treason of Yanukovych. He was called by the summons to take part in the hearing but he did not come to the court. Moreover, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv considers the procedural request of the Prosecutor General's Office to hold the special pre-trial investigation towards Yanukovych on the case against the participants of Maidan. However, Yanukovych also does not take part in this case. The defense of the former president predicts that the sentence on treason will be given to him until the end of 2017.
Yanukovych stays in Russia since February 2014.
Moreover, former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Vitaly Zakharchenko was also called for the questioning at the same room but for two hours earlier than Yanukovych.
The Prosecutor General's Office claimed about new apprehensions to Yanukovych, Zakharchenko, former head of the SBU Yakymenko and number of other former officials due to the cases of Maidain of 2014 on June 2017. The mentioned people are suspected of the illegal resistance to the organization and holding of the protests, marches and demonstration, an organization of the abuse of powers by the officers of the law enforcement, intentional murder of two and more persons, finished assassination attempt of two and more persons, causation of the intentional grave bodily injury and the organization of the terrorist attack.
